My name is Cheng Han He. My department is Biomedical engineering, and I am a student from 501 Biomedical Informatics laboratory in college of Engineering. I participated in Grand Challenges Scholars Program (GCSP) from 2021 to 2023. This program was emphasized by National Academy of Engineering (NAE). It is hoped that outstanding students are equipped with comprehensive skills including five competencies: Research and Creativity, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Multicultural, Social Consciousness and Multidisciplinary. Through the completion of these five competencies, students engage in innovative research, explore multidisciplinary coursework, step in entrepreneurship, and contribute to their community.

I am very grateful that I have the opportunity to participate in GCSP program. There are several people to whom I would like to express my deepest gratitude. First, I would like to thank my advisor, Professor Yu-Show Tsai, for providing me with invaluable guidance and assistance throughout my research project. Second, I would also like to express my gratitude to Professor Antoine Venault, Professor Teng, and Teacher Roger. They have been involved in this program and offered me substantial support in completing GCSP.

What impressed me a lot is that English proficiency is essential for this program and it is undoubtedly of great help to future development in graduate studies. GCSP program offers numerous opportunities to enhance English language skills through practical training.

At the same time during GCSP, I participated camps not only broadened my horizons but also allowed me to acquire a wealth of knowledge, making me explore diverse areas of knowledge and engage in academic exchanges with students from other countries.
For example, when I joined International Industrial Academic Leadership Experience (IIALE), I learned about the application of renewable energy and energy consumption related topics. In the process of attending the Design and development of biomedical device camp organized by National Cheng Kung University, I gained insights into the complete product development process. Both of which were not covered in regular coursework but through other extra-curriculum activities.
