From Research to the Workplace: A Meaningful Internship Journey for Ph.D. Students

The Ph.D. Program in Business at Chung Yuan Christian University continues to bridge academic learning and business practice, providing doctoral students with opportunities to go beyond the classroom and research environment, engage with real-world challenges, and apply their knowledge in practice.

We are especially grateful to LongFuHong Co., Ltd. (LFH) for providing internship opportunities for our Ph.D. students for two consecutive years. From their first experiences in a corporate environment to gaining a deeper understanding of business operations and managerial decision-making, this support has offered more than an internship. It has provided students with a valuable platform to take their learning from academia to practice and from the classroom to the real business world.

The 2026 summer internship focused on Business Intelligence, RFM Customer Segmentation, and Operations Analysis. Students analyzed data from 5,954 active customers and NT$3.05 billion in recorded revenue from 2023 to 2026, completed an RFM customer segmentation analysis, and developed management recommendations. They also visited warehouse facilities to gain first-hand experience in inventory management, product storage, and distribution processes, seeing how data can support business operations and decision-making.

During the internship, students also engaged in discussions with senior management and advisors, gaining valuable insights into cost efficiency, operational analysis, and business strategy. For the doctoral students, this was more than an internship—it was a journey of growth that allowed them to bring research into the workplace, turn real-world challenges into thoughtful inquiry, and transform knowledge into action.

The Ph.D. Program in Business sincerely appreciates LFH for its continued support and trust over the past two years. By opening its doors to our doctoral students, LFH has created an environment where learning extends beyond research and the classroom and comes alive through meaningful experiences in the real business world.

One internship, one meaningful exchange, and one shared commitment to learning—together creating a valuable connection between academia and practice. Through continued industry collaboration, the Ph.D. Program in Business is committed to developing advanced business professionals with strong research capabilities, data analytics skills, and practical decision-making abilities.
