Digital Fabrication
The Department of Architecture at Chung Yuan Christian University has been at the forefront of parametric design and digital fabrication since 2006. Initially focused on digital tools for model production, the department now integrates architectural materials, structures, and environmental condition optimization with parametric design. This approach is complemented by digital manufacturing tools and programming to achieve intelligent construction and digital architectural development.

Architectural Practice
Architectural practice is the realization process of architectural design. It is the transformation of design theory into actual physical entities. It requires various professional knowledge and skills to ensure that the quality and function of the final proposal meet the needs and expectations of users. The process of architectural practice requires familiarity with various building materials and building technologies, various factors should be considered such as environmental impact, function and application, aesthetic of design, as well as how to solve potential problems and accept future challenges.

History and Theory
The research focuses on “preservation and activation of industrial cultural assets” and “cultural landscape”, actively promotes international exchange and reuse research on cultural asset preservation, and uses cultural asset education to parent-child, combined with environmental education, management of museum and local building and other extensions, for practical planning and serving localities. Over the years, the department has been dedicated for cultural heritage reuse and international academic exchange, organizing and participating in numerous international conferences to align Taiwanese industrial cultural heritage preservation with international organizations.
History and Theory
The department’s core teaching and research in history and theory emphasize understanding the past to inform the present and enrich the innovative foundation of architectural culture. The undergraduate curriculum focuses on the history of Eastern and Western architecture and urban development, as well as the introduction of contemporary architectural theories. This approach aims to strengthen the understanding of architectural discourse and spatial cultural forms.
At the graduate level, the department’s teaching and research continually explore traditional architecture and settlements, as well as the material, theoretical, intellectual, and methodological aspects of East Asia architecture and urban modernity since the 18th century. The department is dedicated to investigating, presenting, interpreting, and developing design discourses on these topics.
